The Byōbu is a traditional Japanese folding screen, historically used both as a functional element to divide interior spaces and as a refined decorative art form, often adorned with nature-inspired paintings and crafted with exceptional attention to detail.
Byōbu, Cherry Blossoms is a one-of-a-kind piece, entirely handmade using reclaimed wood scraps from the frames of my canvas paintings, nothing is ever wasted in my creative process.
Each element is guided by the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which embraces the quiet beauty of transience, natural irregularity and the subtle traces of time.
Every mark, grain and variation becomes part of the story, honouring the material’s authenticity rather than concealing it.
