Sakura 桜

Sakura is the fourth byōbu in my ongoing artistic exploration of this extraordinary and deeply captivating Japanese object.

Traditionally, a byōbu is a Japanese folding screen developed over centuries as both a functional and artistic element within interior spaces. Originally used to divide rooms, provide privacy and guide movement through a space, byōbu evolved into celebrated works of art.

This piece is dedicated to the fleeting beauty of the sakura blossom season. Through its composition, Sakura invites the viewer into a space of quiet reflection, where the freshness of a new season becomes a metaphor for personal transformation and new beginnings.
